S Klitgaard (b. 1992) is a Brooklyn born and based artist. They studied painting and received a BFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art (2015), as well as an MFA at Hunter College (2019).  Influenced by manga panels, neo-expressionism, Naudline Pierre, their friends art work, and tattoo flash drawings  to create exuberant, colorful paintings of figures interacting with monsters. S has always invested in figure painting and stealing beasts from fables and myths for their paintings.  In developing these paintings Klitgaard  divested from storytelling and started exploring the ideas of manifesting inner demons as monsters that humans must interact with physically.

Their two primary means of art making have been painting and using a tattoo gun and fake skin tabs to create drawings. Both are a way to show their hand, mistakes and their corrections.
